THE KARUN DINGHY.
The Karun dinghy was originally designed to fit the amount of plywood we had available at the time. The sheets were not quite 8’ long because one end of each sheet had been badly damaged which meant we lost around 2” from them. Later the plans were drawn up for a full sheet.
The plans detail the full build.

THE KARUN 8 DINGHY
Length 7' - 8" Beam 3' - 10" Dry Weight of around 45lbs (21kg). This dinghy was designed as a work horse for my small yacht and I designed it years ago while living on the Isle of Wight. The one I built was used to ferry the crew ashore and then back with provisions, as a leisure sailing dinghy and a platform to carry out repairs while afloat. She was called "Karun" by my daughter so the name stuck but the dinghy served me well. These plans are for the rowing tender. She can be transported on the roof rack of the average family saloon or a small trailer.
She is quite easy to build in 6mm plywood with either 9mm or 12mm transoms depending on use. The plans include general details for adapting a sail rig for completing as a sailing dinghy. Sail rig plans will be included soon.
